The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), also known as the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD), is a vital government agency in Malaysia. Its mission is to foster entrepreneurship and enhance the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and cooperatives across the country. Through various policies and initiatives, KUSKOP provides entrepreneurs with the necessary resources, training, financial assistance, and market access to thrive in the competitive business environment. The ministry’s efforts aim to create a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem and support economic growth, especially by uplifting local communities and empowering SMEs.
KUSKOP identified a need to digitize and modernize the local entrepreneurial landscape to help businesses, particularly SMEs and cooperatives, expand their reach in the digital economy. The solution came in the form of MyMall Malaysia, a national marketplace that would serve as a platform for local businesses to showcase and sell their products.
However, the challenge was multi-faceted. The marketplace had to be scalable, user-friendly, and capable of handling high volumes of transactions. It also had to meet strict security and data privacy requirements while being delivered within a tight timeline to align with KUSKOP’s economic recovery plans.
The project was critical to ensuring that Malaysia’s SMEs and cooperatives could thrive in a post-pandemic digital economy, and the platform had to handle large-scale traffic, support secure transactions, and provide a seamless experience for both sellers and consumers.

Develop foundational platform features including user registration, seller onboarding, product listings, secure payment systems, and basic analytics.
Implement advanced features such as customer reviews, targeted promotions, personalized marketing tools, and expanded data analytics for sellers.
Enhance platform scalability, integrate third-party logistics, and fine-tune the system’s ability to handle high traffic loads, ensuring that MyMall Malaysia could scale rapidly during peak periods.

ASAS SE focused on rapidly developing the core features of MyMall Malaysia, building the digital storefronts for sellers and implementing secure payment gateways. The platform was built with AWS services, utilizing AWS Elastic Beanstalk for easy deployment and management of applications, Amazon RDS for scalable database management, and Amazon S3 for secure and scalable object storage.
Key features included:
AWS services were critical in ensuring the platform was highly scalable, as Amazon EC2 instances were used to run the application in a scalable manner, adjusting resource allocation dynamically based on demand.
In the final phase, ASAS SE integrated third-party logistics services to streamline delivery, using AWS Lambda functions for real-time updates. AWS’s event-driven architecture, powered by AWS Lambda and Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service), provided real-time notifications for order status and logistics tracking.
The data analytics system, built using Amazon Redshift and AWS QuickSight, provided businesses with actionable insights on sales, customer behavior, and market trends, helping them make data-driven decisions to improve their offerings.
